Tom Foote, in planning a New Mexico trip, mentioned Taos.

Having lived in New Mexico for 15 years (up to 1976), I will express my great
disappointment with what has happened to Taos and, to a lesser extent, Santa Fe.
My wife and I traveled back there a few years ago and were sickened by what we
found in the plaza at Taos. If you want tee shirts and kewpie dolls, that's the
place to be. If you want Mexican food, well, we found ~one~ Mexican restaurant,
and the food was awful. Santa Fe had much more to offer, but was still a great
disappointment.

So, you will find a tremendous amount of cultural history in northern NM, but
the tourist traps are just that. The loop drive mentioned is highly recommended,
for both birds and scenery. And you just might stumble across good Mexican food
in one of the smaller towns.<G>

I consumed many of the great green chile cheeseburgers at the Owl Cafe in San
Antonio, just north of the Bosque. The experience was always sinful, causing a
lingering lust that I have to this day. But I am told by some recent Bosque
visitors that since the cafe changed hands the burgers are not as good. Don't
know for sure.....

an EMail of the English and Latin names you were given and I'll research them
for you.

Karen asked about AviSys. It is not a field guide CD-ROM. It is a database and
reporting system. No pictures, no songs, etc. So there is no comparison with
Peterson's CD-ROM, etc.
