Hello Tweeters,

On the morning of Monday, March 24th, a female Rufous Hummingbird was
seen flying around our backyard. That day we bought a feeder hoping to
keep the bird around. While hanging the feeder the next day we noticed
that it already had a nest in the cedar tree. Since we hadn't noticed
the nest before we don't know if the bird is reusing an old nest or had
been working on it for awhile. Anyway, the nest was complete. Over the
course of the week we would see the bird come to the nest in the morning
and work on it a little bit. We didn't see it in the evening and
evidently was not staying at the nest. Then on Sunday the 30th it came
to the nest in the morning and stayed. During the late morning it was
very fidgity and we believe she may have layed her eggs then. Since
then she has stayed on the nest day and night. We have our spotting
scope set up in the living room so we are able to watch her without
disturbing her.

We are wondering how long is the incubation period? How big are the
eggs? How long until the young fledge?
