Thanks for the lovely report on your birding outing, Deborah. I've been
drooling over everyone's swallows, hummingbirds, warblers, etc. for the
past month. Last Sunday, a friend and I drove down to Girdwood and Portage,
which are 40 miles south of Anchorage and have a lot of similarities to the
Prince William Sound climate (they get hummingbirds, for example), but
discovered we had jumped the season and only saw winter birds.

Today, the first signs that all is well again: Canada Geese on the library
grounds. Oh boy, it's starting, it's starting.
