The Washington BirdBox is a voice mailbox sponsored by the Washington
Ornithological Society. To leave a message about a notable sighting, or
to listen to the most recent messages, call (206) 454-2662 and follow
the prompts. First-time BirdBox users may find it convenient, before
calling, to review the status of Washington's chickadee species.

The Washington Ornithological Society would like to see the BirdBox
become a statewide aid to Birders. One of the reasons for this transcription
is as a service to those outside the local calling area and for people living
outside WA who are interested for whatever reason. We would like to offer an
email transcription service to anyone with a message for the BirdBox. (The
email will be placed as a phone message as well as an errorfree message on

norton360 at aol.com, subplot at u.washington.edu (the cc are in case Hal Opperman
is out of town and the only cc really necessary is to whoever is transcribing

5:38 AM, April 10 - Hi, this is Tom Aversa 782-7342. A trip to Ocean Shores
yesterday the 9th produced the following birds: a Merlin, a Peregrine Falcon,
the Pacific Golden-Plover was probably the best bird (at Damon Point), 7
Whimbrel, 12 Caspian Terns. Also at Damon Point were 8 Horned Larks and 2
Lapland Longspurs and 4 Snowy Owls remaining there. At Ocean City State Park
there were 4 Red Crossbills and a Great Horned Owl.

9:33 AM, April 10 - Michael Priebe. Today at the Montlake Fill there was a
Greater White-fronted Goose near Husky Stadium, also I flushed two Common
Snipe. One near the Earthworks Sculpture and one by the small lake by the
gravel parking lot. As well, I saw what looked like on very brief
acquaintance like a Sharp-shinned Hawk flying across the (???) near the
cottonwoods there by the Center for Horticulture. Thanks and good bye.

5:38 AM, April 12 - Hi, this is Stephen Mlodinow. Yesterday evening I had a
Nashville Warbler in my back yard in Everett. That's about it, good luck and
good birding.

7:50 AM, April 12 - This is Bob Norton from Joyce near Port Angeles (360)
928-3053. Yesterday at the harbor in the small fishing town of La Push near
Forks there was a good group of gulls including a first winter Glaucous Gull
and a first winter Kittywake. There were also still about 20 Thayer's Gulls
which were almost all immatures. One Gray Whale was seen from the town beach
going north.
