I have a book called Bird Finding Guide to Michigan put out by the
Michigan Audubon Society published in 94. I haven't used it in the
field yet so can't vouch for its usefulness but it has about five
sites in the Detroit area in Wayne Co. I can send you a summary of
the information in a private email if you like. I also listen in to
the Michigan equivalent of Tweeters. My sense is there is more
happening out here with migration; very few reports so far of much of
interest moving through.

Of course Pt. Pelee is only a hour or so away. Their literature
indicates that "the amount of migration in April is dependent on the
weather. Usually once or twice during the month they get a warm spell
and it is then that there will be a wave of migrants including the
first insectivorous species." Perhaps your friend will be so lucky.
The weather back there has remained pretty wintery still.

Closer to Detroit they recommend a birding hot spot right across the
river from Detroit at Ojibway Park, Ontario.

If you want more info, contact me.
