My thanks to whoever posted the notice about the PI article telling about the
World Center For Birds Of Prey. We asked a friend in Seattle to mail it to
us and as a result just came back from a fabulous week in Boise. The Center
is absolutely top notch with many interesting exhibits and tour guides to
explain everything. The gift shop is full of goodies. There are raptors
everywhere! There were many NORTHERN HARRIERS, ROUGH LEGGED HAWKS, GOLDEN
EAGLES, SHORT EARED OWLS, a few TURKEY VULTURES, many KESTRELS, PRAIRIE
FALCONS, and SWAINSON'S along Swan Falls Road on the way to Dedication
Point. At Dedication Point we saw PRAIRIE FALCONS, NORTHERN HARRIERS,
RED-TAILED HAWKS, TURKEY VULTURES. At Celebration Park we saw an OSPREY,
NORTHERN HARRIERS, and a GOLDEN EAGLE in it's nest (bring your spotting
scopes), also ducks, geese, and cormorants. The ancient Indian petroglyphs
alone made Celebration Park worthwhile. If you have children they can also
learn to throw spears with an atl atl, and see other interesting exhibits
there. Five miles beyond Dedication Point is Swan Falls Dam and at the
picnic area are many passerines. It was cold and windy but we still had fun.
Thanks again whoever you are!!!! Hans & Katie Krauss, Spokane, WA
