Here's an update on the injured Virginia Rail. After several helpful
tips, I managed to get hold of Debbie Cantlown who rehabs birds out in the
Sand Point Way area. I took the bird to her and her diagnosis follows:

2 broken legs--one will probably need to be amputated

No broken wings

very undernourished

She set one leg (with my fumbling assistance), but holds out little
hope for the other--it has no heat or activity.

She's going to give it one or more injections (antibacterial?).

What she desperately needs is RAIL FOOD. I'll give her address and
directions for anyone that can help in that department.

When going north from the University of Washington on Sand Point Way,
continue past Children's Hospital all the way to 70th. Turn left and
go to 42nd. Turn right and it's the second house on the right. her phonw
