First, I believe those who have studied these birds and discussed them
on Tweeters believe them to be parakeets, and it is not exactly clear
what species. They could be Crimson-fronted parakeets or a mixed flock
of several species. Groups of half dozen or so have been seen in both
North and South Seattle (especially Seward Park); the connection amongst
these groups is also a matter of speculation.

I know little about these birds myself (though I have regularly heard
and seen -- without the aid of binoculars -- the flock in Seward Park).
The remarks above are my reforumlation of some Tweeters submissions made
in the last year or so.
