I was sitting here this morning reading my email when who should appear but
a male Hooded Oriole. I thought I'd seen him a couple of days ago, but he
took off before I could make a positive ID. This time he hung around.
Striking bird!
My husband and I have been watching the ardent courtship of a pair of House
Finches the last couple of days. He sings and dances for her and, when he
approaches, she pecks at him, effectively keeping him at bay. It's reached
a point now where we're rooting for the male...."ah come on, give in, he's a
cute little guy!"
Such is love in the bird world.
Happy birding,
Peggi
