We completed another monthly survey of Snoqualmie Valley on Fri. We observed
a total of 50 species which is as might be expected the highest count since
we started in Sept. We had seven 1st sightings - Dunlin, Brown-headed
Cowbird, Common Snipe, Tree Swallow, Rough-winged Swallow, Greater
Yellowlegs, Common Yellowthroat.

Other exciting stuff included:
11 Wood Ducks at 4-5 different sites
2 Osprey - both in Audubon Sanctuary, 1 perched at top of snag near nesting
platform and 1 soaring overhead. Platform did not appear to have enough
sticks for a nest.
19 Band-tailed Pigeon - all in one tree near the Carnation Farm overlook
3 Bald Eagles - two perched on nest by river. Viewed from NE 8th St. off hwy
203.
4 species of swallows - Tree, Violet-green, Barn, Rough-winged
1 Merlin
3 Western Meadowlark
and 4 mammal species - 5 Black-tailed Deer, 1 each of Coyote, Muskrat and
Raccoon. The Raccoon was curled up and sleeping on a branch of a cottonwood
tree at Carnation GC.
