Hi tweeters.
Took a trip to Portland on Saturday and on the way down I5 saw my first
turkey vulture of the year. It was sitting on a tree at exit 111 looking very
unhappy and bedraggled in the rain. And having broken the duck so to speak we
counted around 30 all weekend. We saw 11 not far from Sauvie Isl. Then
another 9 sitting on tree near Astoria and todau on the Washington side of
the Columbia, we saw many more including one flying alongside the car.
On Sauvie, we saw pintail, shoveler, green winged teal, mallard, ring necked
pheasant( 4 females and 1 male), and also my first swift of the season
(Vaux).
At one or the ponds close to the bridge, we saw 3 bald eagles trying to catch
a shoveler.
In all a great weekend in new territory despite the rain.
