In response to Chris Hill's and Mike Patterson's note that the ABA does
indeed now allow birds heard only to "count" on their lists, Ray Korpi
responded

I, too applaud. Common sense and respect should always reign in birding. I
do keep lists (don't we all?), but my life list is comparatively short
because my personal rules for what "counts" are pretty strict and, like
Mike, I tend not to chase rarities. However, tell me what else gobbles like
a turkey and who else cooks for you-all? I'm still looking for my first
*visual* Barred Owl, and hope to see a Turkey emerge from the shadows
someday.
