Sorry about putting the live bait message out on tweeters! Thought this
was all in-house. A little embarassed but at least tweeters readers get to
see what WDFW employees have to deal with!

Hi
Just a thought after discussing this with some of the fish people here in
Spokane. Right now our WDFW laws allow the use of any live bait other
than live fish - that includes all live amphibs! plus who knows what else.
How can we effect a change on this - seems funny when some of the
potentially live baits are listed by our state.

Also, while I have all of you on-line, I just ran into another one of our
inconsistenties. Here I am telling people to leave snags, don't cut down all
the ice storm trees, make brush piles, etc. Think about our wildlife, etc.
So I go down to our fish hatchery and find out they are salvage logging it
(some 3-4' dbh trees) and plan on doing the same to another site with no
considerations for wildlife, just to clean up the sites! :-( Seems we
have no policy on this, and I just happened to run across this sale. Can
we do anything about this in the future? I'm trying to influence this
current sale if it's not too late.

Let me know,
Howard

ps Kelly - any chance you can make it over to give me a hand at herp
monitoring? (OK -Harriet?)
