The Washington BirdBox is a voice mailbox sponsored by the Washington
Ornithological Society. To leave a message about a notable sighting, or to
listen to the 12 most recent messages, call (425) 454-2662 and follow the
prompts. First-time BirdBox users may find it convenient, before calling,
to review the status of Washington's chickadee species.

2:59 p.m. April 27th - Hello. This is Scott Atkinson up along the Getchum
(?) Road in Lake Stevens today. Just wanted to mention I had the first
HAMMOND'S FLYCATCHER of the year and also the first SWAINSON'S THRUSH, and
a whole lot of YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS. S'all. Bye bye.

5:17 p.m. April 27th - Hi. Tom Aversa, 782-7342. Past couple of days had
some interesting birds at the zoo over here at Woodland Park in Seattle. A
NASHVILLE WARBLER today along with the other more common WARBLERS:
ORANGE-CROWNED, and YELLOW-RUMPED, and BLACK-THROATED GRAY. And a flock of
about eight RED CROSSBILLS yesterday. Thanks.

7:42 a.m. April 28th - Hi. Ed Deal at 723-4742 in Seattle. A weekend trip
to the Potholes and Lower Crab Creek turned up the usual species. The
hotspot for the weekend was described in the current edition of Wahl and
Paulson on page 135, as a pond ten miles W of Othello on Washington Route
26. Species in these small lakes included AMERICAN AVOCETS, BLACK-NECKED
STILTS, WILSON'S PHALAROPES, GREATER YELLOWLEGS, DUNLIN, five species of
ducks, and nine AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS, and 20-25 Sandhill Cranes. Quite
a concentration in a small area. Easy spot to put together with a trip to
either the Potholes or Lower Crab Creek. Good luck and good birding!

6:26 p.m. April 28th - Bruce LaBar, Tacoma, Washington, area code
206-272-1058. Today at the Percival storm ponds, or sewage ponds, on
Montland (?) Road in Olympia, I saw the previous report of Bill Shelmerdine
of SOLITARY SANDPIPERS. I had three of them today, and thought I'd mention
that, and for further directions be sure to listen to his report or give me
a call. Thank you and good bye.
