Tweets,
A quick run down of the shorebird happenings as there is more of interest
in Ocean Shores than Pt. Brown. At the sewage pond end of the game range
the was the usual roost of terns which today involved 62 Caspian with one
immature and 28 Elegant Tern. If the Elegant seem to be low on the sand
roost spot it is a good idea to check on the bay side of the jetty
adjacent to the sewage ponds.
At Damon Point:
Good numbers of Shorebirds and with the help of Ruth Sullivan we found a
couple of nice birds.
At the base of Damon to the right of the plover area were 116 Semipalmated
Plovers, about 25 Least Sandpipers and about 200 Western Sandpipers. The
best bird was a full alternate plumaged Ruddy Turnstone in all of its
Splendor!! Gorgeous bird!!
At the pond on Damon Point was:
~12 Dowitchers of which one was confirmed as a Short-billed Dowitcher
9 Greater Yellowlegs
~400 Western Sandpiper
~30 Least Sandpiper
3 Semipalmated Sandpiper (got to get within 15 feet of two of them!!)
No Bairds or Pectoral yet. Hopefully soon.
