Reply to Tom (and Tweets),

Regarding Bonaparte's gulls... I have seen several near Port Orchard along the
private beaches on the south side of town - this was about 3 weeks ago and I
believe they are still there. There are usually about 25-30 screaming
killdeer near them! They hang out there in larger numbers all during the
summer it seems. Anyone wanting a fabulous bike ride.. take the Vashon ferry,
but go on to Southworth and get off there. Just ride your bike along the
waterfront all the way to Port Orchard. Many nice spots to stop and bird at
the small beaches along the way. It is a 26 mile round-trip, with few hills
and no lack of incredible scenery the entire way. I do this several times
each summer and am never disappointed. Also, the town of Port Orchard has a
craft and food fair going all summer on the pier right before you get to the
downtown strip which is a perfect lunch, and turnaround spot.
