Sightings for Saturday, August 2nd

A RUFF was seen with 2 LESSER YELLOWLEGS at the Iona ponds. The bird was
observed flying into the pond but could not be relocated on the ground.
Also at the ponds were 42 SEMIPALMATED, 5 PECTORAL and 1 BAIRD'S SANPIPER.
Birds seen from the Iona jetty were the COMMON EIDER, an immature
FRANKLIN'S GULL in the company of 60 BONAPARTE'S GULLS and a MARBLED
MURRELET.

At the foot of 112th St. with a large group of BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS was an
AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER.

An female OLDSQUAW was observed in the waters off the Beach Grove Lagoon in
Tsawwassen.

Reported from the Reifel Refuge was a SOLITARY SANDPIPER. Also sighted at
the Refuge were 3 RED-NECKED PHALAROPE, a GREEN HERON, PECTORAL SANDPIPER
and an adult BLACK CROWNED NIGHT-HERON.

Observed at Addington Marsh in N.E. Coquitlam were 5 EASTERN KINGBIRDS and
4 OSPREY.

Friday, August 1st

An immature NORTHERN GOSHAWK was seen at Crescent Park in south Surrey.

A pair of PURPLE MARTINS were sighted in Port Moody's Emmit Park.

182 CASPIAN TERN and 2 BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS were spotted from the
Tsawwassen Ferry Jetty.

In North Van a TURKEY VULTURE was seen soaring over the Cypress Park works
yard.

Thursday, July 31st

An immature FRANKLIN'S GULL was observed at the White Rock Beach. Ocean
Shores was the location of a Peale's race PEREGRINE FALCON.

Another PEREGRINE FALCON was present at the Reifel Refuge. Also seen at the
Refuge were 2 RED-NECKED PHALAROPES, 5 EASTERN KINGBIRDS, an AMERICAN
BITTERN, 2 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS, and 2 GREEN HERON.

At Iona were a BAIRD'S SANDPIPER, 2 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS, a LESSER
YELLOWLEGS, 25 SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS and off the jetty the COMMON EIDER.

Wednesday, July 30th

At Point Robert's Washington were 10 RHINOCEROS AUKLETS.

The Beach Grove Lagoon in Tsawwassen was the location for 2 SEMIPALMATED
PLOVER, and a SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER.

Reported between 104th and 112th St. along the Boundary Bay Dike were 200
BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER, 45 SEMIPALMATED PLOVER, a WHIMBREL, 1 SANDERLING, and
50 SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER.
