Hello, this is Portland Audubon Society's Rare Bird Report. This recording
was made Thursday August 7. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

The two adults and the juvenile BLUE GROSBEAKS were still along Willow
Creek Road near Brogan August 2.

A WHITE-WINGED DOVE was reported July 31 along Highway 205 five miles north
of Frenchglen.

Two adults and a juvenile RED-SHOULDERED HAWKS were at South Slough near
Charleston on Coos Bay August 5. A flock of 19 ELEGANT TERNS were on the
bay near Empire August 3. The south effluent pond on the North Spit of Coos
Bay is now being lowered and is attracting a number of shorebirds.

On August 1 a WANDERING TATTLER was with over 300 SURFBIRDS and some BLACK
and RUDDY TURNSTONES at Yachats. A SNOWY EGRET and ten GREAT EGRETS were at
Yaquina Bay August 3. Three GREAT EGRETS were at the Bayocean Shorebird
Flats on Tillamook Bay August 2, A flock of 20 ELEGANT TERNS were at Crab
Harbor at the north end of BAYOCEAN Peninsula that day. Among the many
CASPIAN and ELEGANT TERNS gathered at the Necanicum River mouth in Seaside
August 4 were four ARCTIC TERNS.

Two GREAT EGRETS were at the Forest Grove Ponds July 31. Two others have
been at Ridgefield NWR most of the summer.

A WHITE PELICAN was near Alfalfa in Deschutes County August 2. Another is
now below the John Day Dam on the Columbia River.

A MARBLED GODWIT and two FRANKLIN'S GULLS were at Bully Creek Reservoir in
Malheur County July 29. That day a COMMON LOON, three BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS,
three SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS, and 16 IBIS were at Malheur Reservoir north
of Brogan.

On August 1 a number of birds were observed at a farm pond near Paulina in
Crook County. Among the throng were over 1000 EARED GREBES, 35 IBIS, and a
SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER. That day another 20 IBIS were seen a bit farther
west near the community of Post.
