Hey there - thanks for the web site info - will
certainly check it out! I received a lot of
responses on habitat used by the two
species in OR/WA, waxwings were mostly
listed as "urban", plus some info on specific
sightings in mountain passes or other areas.
It's hard to assign some of the species to
what we're calling primary habitat since they
are on the edges of their ranges. I just threw
those two species out to OBOL/Tweeters to
see what kind of response I'd get! Just got
back from a week's vacation in Banff and
Jasper National Parks, Alberta...only two
lifers but they were easy and everywhere -
boreal chickadee and white-winged crossbill.
Also just returned from the PIF western
working group in Vancouver - fun time - and I
think some work was accomplished! I sort of
felt that the things I most wanted to
concentrate on ended up at the bottom of the
list, so maybe they are more appropriately
delt with at our chapter level - training (I'd
like to see B-Bird stuff added), central
contacts and repositories for certain info
(like one person who would keep up with all
the literature on shrub-steppe work and be
the contact for a bibliography), data
repository site and handling data from
private lands.....anyway, take care and I'll
talk to you later!
