Crane Lake, 30 KM north of Fort McMurray in northeren Alberta, had 200-300
immature Red-necked Phalaropes last night. Prior to this week there were
none. Lesser Yellowlegs counts have gone from under 10 to 50+ and other
peeps are starting to arrive. A flock of 20+ Sandhill Cranes has gathered
and there were four more at the Airport. There was a Marsh Wren calling
three weeks age but I havn't heard it for the past two weeks. Last week I
could count 50+ Common Nighthawks in an evening, last night none. I'd say
Fall Migration is well under way.
