If you use very fast film (say, Fuji 800 print film or in good light
Kodak or Fuji 400 speed print film), can accept the fact that the
dark image in the viewfinder is difficult to focus accurately, and
that image quality will be modest, this set-up can be a fun way to
start learning about bird photography.

If you're hoping to get razor-sharp, contrasty images of birds on
the kind of slowish slide films (ISO 50 or 100) used by folks like
me who photograph with magazine sales in mind, you'll be very
disappointed.
