I am looking for people with bird lists from a specific area in southwest
Seattle. Our community council is attempting to stop, or at least force a
full environmental impact statement, on a new development. The area is
informally known as "the sandpits" because long ago sand was quarried(?)
there. It is a 15 acre undeveloped, roadless area of trees and brush
bounded on the north by Sylvan Way SW, south by Othello St. (7300 SW), west
by 28th Ave SW. The closest east street is Delridge Way, but the property
does not reach that far -- east of it there is a steep slope down to
Longfellow Creek. The property is not pristine and thus not likely to be
"saved", but we are concerned about impact on birds, wildlife, and the
creek. I live a block away on 29th Ave SW and have yard lists for several
years, but I'm pretty much a beginner and wouldn't be able to identify
nests or by ear. Any additional birding lists from this area would be
greatly appreciated ASAP since the master permit is going to be filed the
first week of September.

Thanks,
