Hey Yvonne, thanks for your post...I was up at Spencer Island on Saturday
morning and also saw some great stuff... I would estimate a mixed group of
1500+ swallows hanging out on the telephone lines just north of the Everett
ponds, with lots of confusing juveniles. Are these birds 'staging' for
migration, or just living there? I missed the Stilt Sandpiper (darn!) but
saw 2 Baird's Sandpipers and 1 probable Semipalmated Sandpiper (this ID is
hard for me) on the central dike trail. Also, I didn't see a Purple Finch,
but saw a female Black-headed Grosbeak... Even-Steven!!
