Joe Evanich (God bless him) was basing his belief in the presence
of "Northwestern" Crow on several specimens which have since been
called into question.

Interestingly, no one "sees" NWCR on the Columbia any more. I think
I am partly to blame. I have been picking up roadkill in the area for
going on 10 years and have through careful measurements been unable to
find any anomolous crows even though we have plenty to flap fast,
say "yop" and forage for shellfish on the beach and in tide pools.

The presence of "Northwestern" Crow on the Oregon checklist remains
controversial (and problematical). It's one of those subjects we just
try to avoid in polite conversation.
