IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: This will be the last regular seawatch I will
do for Ecola State Park. School starts next week and I can only fit one
seawatch into my schedule and SJCR is more convenient. Anyone interested
in taking this count over is welcome to do so.

Seawatch Count for
Ecola Point,Ecola State Park, Clatsop Co., OR
22 Aug 1997 - 0900 to 1000

Tide: low
Weather: mostly sunny
Wind southwest at 5mph; Temp 60F

Method: One hour (timed) station count from observation deck at Ecola
Point using 20x60 Bushnell spotting scope and 8x50 Bushnell
binoculars. Birds were sorted as to flyby, sitting rocks, sitting
on ocean.

NOTES: SOOTY SHEARWATERS were sitting on the water when I began the
count. By the end of the hour the numbers of shearwaters had dropped
to near zero. Two HARBOUR PORPOISES were floating together just
beyond the breakers.
