The Hoquiam Washington Port Authority is expected to lease the land containing
the airport and the municipal sewage treatment facility to Nucor, a North
Carolina based steel company. The company uses primarily recycled material to
make steel using a high tech automated process. A very nice book was written
about the company and serialized in the New Yorker. The new plant requires 400
acres of land, a rail yard, lots of electricity and a deep water dock. How all
this relates to Tweeters is that the land is adjacent to something called
Bowerman Basin Wildlife Refuge.
