I have solved part of the mystery of those awful attachments. They are created when I hit "Reply to sender" when responding to a Tweeters post. When replying in that fashion the browser(MS Exchange in my case) is reading the address from the original Tweeters post via the listserver. Some part of that address is directing the creation of the attachment. If I type in the Tweeters address myself, or use the Address Book, it doesn't occur.
I'm not sure if this happens with other listservers, eg BirdChat, and I'm afraid to test further.
There should be no attachment to this message. Thanks again to all, and I hope this can help others with similar difficulties.
