This phenomenon holds true in Oregon too. One day I had six Northern
above a canyon, but descending into the canyon, I found a Loggerhead.
This was in eastern Sherman County in February.

Loggerheads and Northerns also mix winter on the central plains as both
are possible in Nebraska winters (for those traveling east this holiday
season). RK
