This is the Vancouver, B.C. Bird Alert for Sunday, November 30th, 10:45
P.M. update.

The Rare Bird Alert continues for the XANTUS' HUMMINGBIRD.

Featured birds this evening are XANTUS' HUMMINGBIRD, HARRIS' SPARROW and
NORTHERN GOSHAWK.

Sightings for Sunday, November 30th

The XANTUS' HUMMINGBIRD was again present in Gibsons. At the home owner's
request the alert will discontinue updates on this bird. On behalf of the
hundreds of birders who made the trip to Gibsons to view this bird I would
like to thank them for their hospitality over the past week and a half. Off
shore near this location were 5 ANCIENT MURRELETS.

On a VNHS outing at Stanley Park's Lost Lagoon a HARRIS'S SPARROW was
located at the Stone Bridge. It was feeding below the feeders at the East
end of this bridge.

A NORTHERN GOSHAWK was seen perched in a tree over looking the Coquitlam
River near the River Springs subdivision in N.E. Coquitlam.

At the foot of 64th on Boundary Bay were 4 SHORT-EARED OWLS and a PEREGRINE
FALCON. The BRANT numbers at the foot of 12th in Tsawwassen have grown to
360. Also present here were 3 EURASIAN WIGEON.

A WESTERN GULL and an unidentified juvenile JAEGER were sighted from the
Point Roberts shoreline.

Saturday, November 29th

A large moment of 500+ AMERICA ROBINS was observed at Village Park in
Langley.

>From Brunswick Ponit was the report of 2 VIRGINIA RAILS and a SHORT-EARED
OWL.

Six BARN SWALLOWS and 1 CLIFF SWALLOW were seen over the outer pond at Iona
R.P. Also here were 2 REDHEADS.

Friday, November 28th

The XANTUS' HUMMINGBIRD was reported.

A DARK-EYED JUNCO of the WHITE-WINGED RACE was observed in a backyard at
Tofino on the west coast of Vancouver Island. This race is normally found
in the north central part of the U.S. from S.E. Montana to N.W. South
Dakota.

The HOODED ORIOLE present since November 19 was re-reported at Terrace,
B.C. Call Cherly Thomas at 250-635-2506 for further details.

Thursday, November 27th

Late swallows were present at Iona with 6 CLIFF and 2 BARN SWALLOWS. A
NORTHERN SHRIKE was also present.

The BRANT numbers at the foot of 12th in Tsawwassen rose to 240.

Wednesday, November 26th

The XANTUS' HUMMINGBIRD was reported in Gibsons.

Nine SHORT-EARED OWLS were reported from Boundary Bay with 6 at the foot of
72nd and another 3 near the foot of 64th. Also from the foot of 64th was a
PEREGRINE.

Another PEREGRINE was seen in Vancouver between the Burrard and Granville
Bridges.
