The females at North Seattle CC pond seem relatively evenly-
colored compared to the book.

Major work has been done in the NSCC greenspace:

an overflow streambed has been created, a new pond has
appeared in the main meadow,
and volunteers have been planting trees et al.

On the rainy weekend, no overflow into the stream, everything
was going through the pipe to the pond.

However, a pond of backed up water right near a lot of foot
traffic and parking had filled up with mallards and one
bold muskrat, who would swim underwater from one end to
the other, apparently goosing the ducks on the way.
