Absolutely gorgeous morning for our walk from 0800-1030. Recorded a total of
40 species, including a first ever Northern Pintail on Phantom L. This
raises the yearly species count to 93, previous high was 87 in 1996. Other
interesting sightings included:

8 Ring-necked Duck
8 Ruddy Duck
4 American Goldfinch
1 Common Goldeneye (female) - regularly shows up every year in Dec.
1 Red-tailed Hawk
1 Sharp-shinned Hawk chasing a crow almost twice its size.
14 Killdeer
3 Golden-crowned Kinglet
5 Ruby-crowned Kinglet
3 Hooded Merganser
1 Red-breasted Nuthatch (usually only see/hear them 5-6 times a year)
20 Northern Shoveler
1 Common Snipe
2 Golden-crowned Sparrow.
1 Green-winged Teal
The two remaining domestic variety Black East Indies Ducks are still present.
