Today I observed an adult winter-plumaged LITTLE GULL from Harry Todd Park
accessed on the the east side of American Lake. The bird was loosely
associating with a flock of 5-6 Boneaparte's Gulls, which is quite a small
flock, but numbers will probably increase throughout the winter. I headed
north into King Co. and observed and photographed the ROSS'/SNOW GOOSE in a
field accessed from 212th Street along 66th Ave., just south of the Boeing
complex facility. The bird was the size,color,and form for a Ross', but
displayed the black grin markon the bill, which is a field mark for Snow
Goose. Are there smaller rases of Snow Goose, near the size or slightly
smaller than the present "Cackling" Canada Geese on sight location with 1
"Aluetian" Canada Goose with the broader neck collar than the nearby
"Cackling" Canada Geese. Larger races of Canada Geese were also present. I
observed the N. MOCKINGBIRD again along Frager Rd., then birded the Kent
Ponds at 3:30pm, where 1 EARED GREBE, 1 Short-eared Owl(flying over fields
between Russell Rd. and the ponds), and 1 Cooper's Hawk.
