Wednesday, Dec. 3, 7:15 p.m. Yeah, hi. My name is Barry
Lyon. I'm an out-of-state birder from California, and I'd just like
to report nothing special really, but just some nice birds. Two
ROCK SANDPIPERS are at the jetty at Ocean Shores. A
YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD was in with a big Starling
and Red-winged Blackbird flock at Ocean Shores also near
Cabana Pond at Torresdale Street. Today at the National Wildlife
Refuge at Dungeness, which is north of Sequim, in the
recreation area right before you go into the National Wildlife
Refuge, there's an overlook out into the water there, and there
are many OLDSQUAWS, there are a few BLACK SCOTER,
three species of LOONS, MARBLED MURRELET, just some
good birding. Thanks.

Wednesday, Dec. 3, 1:58 p.m. Hi, this is Steve Mlodinaw. The
odd gull is still present at the Everett Public Boat Launch at the
end of 10th off of Marine View Drive. Who knows what it
really is. Certain features seem to fairly much rule out
WESTERN GULL, though perhaps it's a Western Gull with
some intergression of GLAUCUS WINGED genes. Back would
seem too dark for that, but it's still possible. On the other hand,
there are some features that seem atypical, though not outside
the range of SLATY-BACKED GULL, such as the relatively
large bill size and the fact the mantle isn't as dark as one would
like. So who knows. Go down, take a look, and if you've got a
camera, get some photos, particularly if you can get pictures of
the underside of the wing. And if you do get some decent
photos, I'd like a call at 425-514-5874, and we'll send them out
perhaps to some experts up in Alaska and see if they can shed
any light on the situation. Good luck and good birding.

Wednesday, Dec. 3, 8:15 a.m. Hello, this is Craig Kemper,
206-789-9255, reporting for Tuesday Dec. 2nd from the Skagit
Game Range on Fir Island. Between 2:15 and 2:45 p.m., I
observed three AMERICAN TREE SPARROW, along with one
LINCOLN, three SAVANNAH SPARROW, three FOX
SPARROW in and amongst WHITE-CROWNED,
GOLDEN-CROWNED and SONG SPARROWS. The birds
were found in the hedgerow located between the two parking
lots. The birds were in deciduous shrubs and small alder tree
100 yards south of the road to the boat launch parking lot.
Thank you.
