Hello, this is Portland Audubon Society's Rare Bird Report. This
recording was made Thursday December 4. If you have anything to add call

On November 30 a WHOOPER SWAN was observed among the TRUMPETER and TUNDRA
SWAN flock near Airlie in southwestern Polk County. The birds move around
quite a bit and birders need to search to find them. The WHOOPER was not
found December 2. Another WHOOPER SWAN was reported from Lower Klamath
NWR in late November.

The YELLOW-BILLED LOON on the Chetco River in Brookings was seen again
during the week. On November 28 a RED-NAPED SAPSUCKER, 4 WHITE-THROATED
SPARROWS, 2 MOCKINGBIRDS, and a GNATCATCHER were seen at Hunter Creek,
south of Gold Beach.

A gray phase GYRFALCON was closely observed near Wee Willies Diner on
Netarts Bay November 30.

The TROPICAL KINGBIRD continues to be seen at the effluent ponds on the
North Spit of Coos Bay. A group of 30 RED PHALAROPES were there November
30. Three ROCK SANDPIPERS were on the North Jetty of Coos Bay that day.

A late TURKEY VULTURE was near Brookings December 2. Another was near
Airlie December 3. A number of BROWN PELICANS and HEERMANN'S GULLS are
still being seen along the south coast.

A SABINE'S GULL and 3 KITTIWAKES were at Cape Arago November 30. Two ROCK
SANDPIPERS were also there. A FRANKLIN'S GULLS was at Charleston that day.

The CATTLE EGRET continues to be seen on the Nestucca NWR near Pacific
City. Another was at Nehalem Meadows along with 2 PALM WARBLERS November
28. Two RED PHALAROPES were at Tillamook Bay November 27.

About 350 SNOW GEESE, 500 SANDHILL CRANES, and 10 GREAT EGRETS are now
being regularly seen in Scappoose Bottoms. Another 1000 SNOW GEESE are in
the corn fields on the east side of Sauvie Island. Large numbers of gulls
are now about the Pellet Plant on the Island. A CATTLE EGRET is being
seen about the junction of Gillahan and Reeders Roads on the Island.

About 1500 TUNDRA SWANS are in the Forest Grove area, mostly along Golf
Course Road south of Cornelius. A LONG-BILLED CURLEW and a COMMON
YELLOWTHROAT were at the Fernhill Wetlands November 27.

The berry patches in Minto-Brown Park in Salem are now alive with
sparrows. Eleven species have been reported including, a HARRIS'S
SPARROW, a CLAY-COLORED SPARROW, a TREE SPARROW, 2 SWAMP SPARROWS, and 4
WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS. A CHIPPING SPARROW and a COMMON YELLOWTHROAT
were at Baskett Slough NWR November 30. The SNOW GOOSE and the ROSS'S
GOOSE are still being seen there. A PRAIRIE FALCON, and a NORTHERN SHRIKE
were along Livermore Road north of the refuge November 27.

On November 29 a SAY'S PHOEBE, 2 RED-SHOULDERED HAWKS, 2 RED PHALAROPES,
and a SWAMP SPARROW were at the E.E. Wilson SWA north of Corvallis.
Another SAY'S PHOEBE is in Corvallis. Over 200 SANDHILL CRANES were at
Camas Swale near Creswell November 27.

Two OLDSQUAWS were on the Prineville Sewage Ponds November 25. A GREAT
GRAY OWL and a HARRIS'S SPARROW were in Sunriver, south of Bend November
29.

Three HARRIS'S SPARROWS are now coming to feeders in Fields.
