Subject: Peterson 1st ed. for sale
Date: Dec 4 12:29:52 1997

I have been asked by a person who wishes to remain anonymous to facilitate
the sale of a first edition, "first state" Peterson Eastern guide. This is
a collector's item, not something to actually use.

This copy is very good+ internally with a small pencil mark inside the
front cover, minor smudge marks on the verso page and slight separation
between pages 166-167 of the index. The cover is dark green leatherette.
The gold lettering is clear. The sides of the spine are noticeably scuffed
with top corners slightly torn and bottom scuffed. The corners are bumped
in about average fashion for old field guides. There is no dust jacket.

It can be identified as the very first press run of this book by the
combination of dirty-necked Whistling Swan on the plate, "bob-pumper"
misspelling in the index and "1934" printed on both the title page and back
(verso) page.

The owner's asking price is US$1,000. Contact me if interested. I suggest
dating any e-mail messages because my system does not always prioritize
them. I will be out of town December 5-7.
