Robert Cleland wondered about the accessability of the Pribilofs. In
fact, it is one of the easiest spots to visit on the Aleutians, weather
permitting. Reeve Airlines operates a "tour" in the Summer that
essentially is the cost of a plane ticket plus the cost of the hotel (The
King Eider). The accommodations and food are OK. There is a bus that
will take you to the hot birding spots. Zimmerman and Jones have an
article in the October 1991 "Birding" that descibes the avifauna. You
are certain to see the Alcids that you mention plus nesting Red-legged
and Black-legged Kittiwakes and other seabirds. John Hirth
