Sunday, Dec. 7, 9:48 p.m. Hi, this is Stephen Mlodinaw. After
looking at the TOWHEE, Jim Flynn and I went over to Whidbey
Island. At Swantown Lake, we had a EURASIAN
GREEN-WINGED TEAL, and at Kennedys Lagoon, the south
end of Penn Cove, at high tide, there was a ROCK SANDPIPER
associating with SURFBIRD, BLACK TURNSTONE, AND
DUNLIN. Also, I hear word from Greg Toffic: The BLACK
PHOEBE was present today down still at the Washougal
Sewage Treatment Pond. Good luck and Good Birding.

Sunday, Dec. 7, 1:53 p.m. Hi, this is Gene Revelas in Tacoma,
253-756-7834. Rick LeMay and I went down to American Lake
in Pierce County this morning, and the LITTLE GULL was
surprisingly easy to find. About 100 yards off the floats at Harry
Todd Park, about 11:30 til about noon, hanging out with a
couple dozen BONAPARTE'S GULLS, and it was still there
when we left. That's about it. Good luck and Good Birding.

Sunday, Dec. 7, 9:51 a.m. Hi, this is Neal Komedal,
206-723-4444. I was doing a bird count at my bird feeder here
in my back yard in Rainier Valley, and I see I have a
WHITE-THROATED SPARROW here yesterday and today.
OK, thank you, bye.

Sunday, Dec. 7, 9:44 a.m. Hi, this is Stephen Mlodinaw. The
GREEN-TAILED TOWHEE was relocated by Richard Rowlett
and seen by a number of us at the Skagit Game Range. Go to
the Boat Launch Parking Lot. To the west, there is a fairly large
field that still has corn in it. Go to the west side of that field, and
then walk south. You walk south past the borderline between
the "no hunt" zone and the "hunt" zone, so you're actually in the
hunt zone. You'll walk maybe another 100 yards. The bird's
hanging out in the hedgerow, feeding low on the ground with a
small group of WHITE-CROWNED SPARROWS. Do note it's a
fairly dull bird. Also three-plus TREE SPARROWS were present
closer to the road. That's it. For now anyway. Good Luck and
Good Birding.

Sunday, Dec. 7, 12:53 a.m. This is Richard Rowlett,
425-865-0276. On Friday, Dec. 5, a covey of 11 MOUNTAIN
QUAIL were seen at the no-longer-active South Port Orchard
Airport along Sydney Road, Kitsap County. The birds were
found around 8:30 a.m. on the far west side of the airport,
sunning and picking gravel in the gravel road about 150 meters
south of the fabric model airplane runway located directly west
of the creamy, yellowish hangar building that reads "Leader
Research." The airport can be found in DeLorme, Page 62,
Coordinates A3. Go early in the morning for the best chances of
success. Additional details and tips for searching are posted on
the Tweeters Computer Message Board for Dec. 6th. Good
Luck and Good Birding.

Saturday, Dec. 6, 11:16 p.m. Gary Bletsch, 360-853-7203.
Today at the West 90 on the Samish Flats was a flock of 14
SNOW BUNTINGS, and earlier I'd seen 10 Snow Buntings, so
perhaps there are 24.

Saturday, Dec. 6, 8:29 p.m. Hi, Ed ? in Seattle at 723-4742.
Today on the Samish Flats at midday, there was a
well-out-of-season OSPREY packing a fish across the
T-junction and sitting on a piling over near the mouth of the
Samish River. That's it.

Saturday, Dec. 6, 7:59 p.m. Yeah, this is Ken Brown,
360-876-9509. Report of the Skagit Wildlife Area Wiley Road
Unit. In a group of CROWNED SPARROWS, at least one
TREE SPARROW and one adult GREEN-TAILED TOWHEE.
The birds were in a fencerow of spirea, blackberries, and alder
along the northwest corner of the corn field, inside the dike, to
the parking lot along the Skagit River. [The rest was broken up
and indecipherable.]
