Hello, this is Portland Audubon Society's Rare Bird Report. This
recording was made Thursday December 11. If you have anything to add call
Harry Nehls at 233-3976.

A GYRFALCON was observed December 6 at the Corvallis Airport. It has no
been relocated so far.

The TROPICAL KINGBIRD continues to be seen on the North Spit of Coos Bay,
and another was found at Rocky Point Park along the North Bank Road of
the Coquille River. A SWAMP SPARROW, 3 RED-SHOULDERED HAWKS, and 7
WHITE-TAILED KITES were seen in the Coqulle Valley December 6. That day a
HARRIS'S SPARROW was behind the Cruise Inn in the town of Coquille.

Many shorebirds are still being seen at Bandon Marsh and on December 9 a
PALM WARBLER was at Coquille Point in Bandon. Three PALM WARBLERS were on
the North Spit of Coos Bay December 6, and another 3 were at the BLM
Offices in North Bend December 9.

Two ANCIENT MURRELETS, some CASSIN'S AUKLETS, 2 RED PHALAROPES, 2
FULMARS, and a probable PARASITIC JAEGER were at Cape Arago December 7.
On December 9 a SWAMP SPARROW and 2 YELLOWTHROATS were at Millicoma Marsh
in Coos Bay. A late OSPREY, 2 LONG-BILLED CURLEWS and 3 WILLETS were at
Pony Slough on Coos Bay December 10.

A ROSS'S GOOSE was with a flock of CANADA GEESE on a horse pasture along
Highway 101 about six miles north of Florence December 3.

A HARRIS'S SPARROW was among the swarm of sparrows along Rentenaar Road
on the east side of Sauvie Island December 5. Several WHITE-THROATED
SPARROWS are being seen on the Island also. There is an immature TUNDRA
PEREGRINE FALCON on the Island now that could easily be misidentified as
a PRAIRIE FALCON.

A CLARK'S GREBE was with 12 WESTERN GREBES on Hagg Lake in Scoggins
Valley Park south of Forest Grove December 4. Two EARED GREBES were there
December 8. A RED-SHOULDERED HAWK and a PRAIRIE FALCON were along Farmer
Road east of Baskett Slough NWR December 6.

The sparrow swarm in Minto-Brown Park in Salem continues to provide
sightings of SWAMP SPARROWS, a HARRIS'S SPARROW, and many WHITE-THROATED
SPARROWS. On December 7 an eastern (red) FOX SPARROW was seen there. A
HARLAN'S RED-TAILED HAWK and 2 SHORT-EARED OWLS have been seen during the
week over the farm fields south of Monmouth, around the junction of
Airlie Road and Highway 99W. The Airlie WHOOPER SWAN has not been
relocated.

A BLACK PHOEBE was seen December 3 near Simpson Park in Albany. A flock
of 48 WHITE-FRONTED GEESE was with a flock of swans along Meadowview Road
north of the Eugene Airport December 5. Seven WHITE-TAILED KITES and 3
RED-SHOULDERED HAWKS were in the Royal Avenue area of Fern Ridge
Reservoir December 4. A PACIFIC LOON and 4 COMMON LOONS were on Lake
Selmac south of Grants Pass December 4.

The 2 CATTLE EGRETS continue to be seen southwest of Hermiston. A
BOHEMIAN WAXWING is now being seen among a CEDAR WAXWING flock in Bend.
South of Burns December 10 was a flock of 15 LAPLAND LONGSPURS, 8 SNOW
BUNTINGS and about 50 HORNED LARKS along Highway 205 between Wrights
Point and the Narrows.

Thats it for this week.
