Hello Tweeters,
I went again today to see the Little Gull on American Lake. When I walked
down from Harry Todd Park to the lake the bird was there, in company with 6
Bonaparte's Gulls.you realy can pick this bird out easy in flight when he
is turning the Jet black underwings, very visible.I stayed two hours or so
in the company of
David Dickson from Renton, for him it was the First sighting.the whole time
the bird was flying fast and steady, high and than close to the water
sweeping and turning,it was the Best sighting I ever had,in all this years
this Bird being there on American lake.So long I remember since in the late
80.A Birder by the name Wally Wilkens who lived on the lake found the
Little Gull original. After Wally moved away,Patrick took over looking for
this Bird every year starting early as the beginning of november. The dates
varied every year. It's a good bird for the Area
I will mention,Birders dont have to go between houses.you can park on the
Gate where there a Sign
NO PARKING,It is OK to park there, than work dow to the beach you can also
watch this Bird from the Veteran Hospital there is a lookout. Also If on
dont see the Bonaparte'sGulls, there is no Little Gull either.
