For shorebirds, go up to Newport and comb the area around the
Marine Science Center. Then head for Depoe Bay and check out the
rockpipers on the rocks just north of town.
You might find shorebirds on any of the beaches along the way,
but they will mostly be Sanderlings.
Further south, Siltcoos Estuary just south of Florence can be a
good spot for shorebirds. Also, Heceta Beach to the north of
Florence and the dike off of the South Jetty Road (just past
the righthand pullout with the information stand) can be good
places to look. Good luck with the weather! Bring your rain
gear, and then some.
