This is Kas Dumroese with the northern Idaho / eastern Washington /
northeastern Oregon bird hotline.

Three HARRIS'S SPARROWS, 1 WHITE-THROATED SPARROW, and 1
AMERICAN TREE SPARROW were at Madame Doriane (sp?) Park in
western Walla Walla Co., WA, today, Dec 12, according to Mike and
MerryLynn Denny. The park is just north of the junction of US 730
and US 12 at about US 12 milepost 307. Look for them along the
little dirt road, which is just beyond the bathrooms, and runs west
along the Walla Walla River. WA DeLorme 40, D-1.

Another HARRIS'S SPARROW was spied in Asotin Co., WA on Dec 7
by Charles Swift. The bird was south of Asotin along the Grand
Rhonde River. From Asotin, follow the road south along the Snake
River all the way to the Grand Rhonde, then follow the road up the
Grand Rhonde. The sparrow was in a bramble patch 1.8 miles beyond
the bridge over the Grand Rhonde, just before a small ranch. WA
DeLorme 43, right on the right margin at letter D.

A MERLIN and single TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE were on the University
of Idaho campus in Moscow, Latah Co., ID on Dec 9 according to
Charles Swift. The Merlin was near the clubhouse on the golf course,
and the solitaire was seen flying over the new arboretum just east of
the golf course.

Rumor also has it the Blue Jays are still persisting in the same
neighborhood, although no birders have confirmed them recently. The
golf course is along Perimeter Drive on the south edge of campus.

Good birding!
