Rick - Many people just park outside the gates and go hiking. And on the
other side of the road just a bit farther south, I believe the large parking
lot is open. I have never had anyone intimate that you couldn't hike in the
park. It's just not open for picnicking and camping. Sorry - I should have
mentioned the winter closure signs.
