Thanks to those who responded to my RFI regarding the
Fir island heron roost. Of the four replies I received two report-
ed the presence of herons and two the absence. As I had never
missed them at their roost before this year I was concerned that
their absence during the day might mean abandonment. Clearly they
are still present but I wonder if they're beginning to use another
roost or if they might be out feeding when they're not seen at the
"normal" roost. Does anyone know just how nocturnal the herons are
and where they feed on Fir Island? Just curious.
