Received another letter from the gentleman that was banding the Canada Geese
with the alpha collars. Below is the reason for us to keep our eyes open for
those birds. He writes:
I should have elaborated a bit more as to the project, infact we never
imagined
ringing so many Canada's. Our objective was to ring Greenland
White-fronted Geese, but unlike the 1992 trip where we found/caught only 10
Canada's, the influx into the region shows a massive invasion is taking
place. We took the opportunity and marked as many
as possible. They (Canada's) are clearly invading the traditional breeding
grounds of GWF's and it will help to know their origin.
