1997 Columbia Estuary CBC preliminary results

The unofficial species total for Columbia Estuary this year is 119
which is about average. The weather was reasonable- scattered
showers of rain and hail, wind from the NW at about 10kt and
somewhere between 40 and 50 degrees.

Notable species: 4 SHORT-TAILED SHEARWATERS, 1 FORK-TAILED
STORM-PETREL, SORA, LESSER YELLOWLEGS, ROCK SANDPIPER, 6 PILEATED
WOODPECKERS, ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER AND COMMON YELLOWTHROAT.

Dan Fay saw a NORTHERN FULMAR and a LEACH'S STORM-PETREL inside
the count week while on beach patrol for the State Police.

Misses included Wood Duck, Black-bellied Plover, Western Screech
Owl, Western Meadowlark and American Goldfinch.
