Bob:

On Friday, the 19th., I was driving north from Olympia and decided to
take a few minutes off from my "hectic" work schedule (hell, it was
Friday) and swung by Harry Todd park. The park is closed and there
are no parking signs along the street; I just drove a couple of short
blocks away and parked by a school. There are walker's openings in
the fence, I walked in and down through the empty parking lot to the
lawn above the lake, just above the swimming area. Stood under a
tree (raining lightly) and just checked out all the Bonaparte's gulls
I could see. In about 10 minutes a little gull showed up, dipping to
the surface of the lake just like the Bonaparte's were doing. This was not
a lifer for me, I've seen them in England, but was very nice to see
one for Washington.

By the way-- my thanks to tweets for the reports on this and on the
green tailed towhee (which was a lifer). Using Tweeters reports I was
able to "tick" off both birds pretty easily. Not just fun to read,
but useful too.
