Tweets, here's the astonishing highlights from my spring-time field station
area CBC on the Central California coast at Morro Bay. This one could very
well give Texas a run for it's money for the nation's highest species count
total!

The Morro Bay Christmas Bird Count was held on Saturday, 20 December 1997.
The weather (and ocean) cooperated with temperatures ranging from the low 50's
to mid 60's and the swells small enough for two pelagic trips on Estero Bay
(one morning and one afternoon). Initial results compiled at our post count
potluck indicate the count was very successful this year with a tenative count
total of ** 210 SPECIES**. As usual, there may be a couple of additions or
deletions after documentation and, or, field review. The double asterisk **
indicates a first record for the Morro Bay count. Count highlights included :

Red-necked Grebe
Pink-footed Shearwater**
Black-vented Shearwater
BROWN BOOBY**
Eurasian Wigeon

Black Scoter
