Seems signals got crossed. I believe the 212 species was for a California
coastal count, perhaps it was Monterrey. My very first CBC was a San Diego
count in 1968 when the total was 224. A Costa Rica count last year tallied
340+. The Washington State record of 141 (Grays Harbor in the mid 1970s was
surpassed last winter by Sequim at 144. Ah, living by the numbers!
