Try including the humor in the subject line, Tom. On busy days, that's the
only part of a message some of us ever get around to reading.

But even with "only" 134 or so species, Sequim-Dungeness is a great count.
JoLynn and I greatly enjoyed sharing the birding with Weldon Clark on his
piece of the circle up above town (Virginia stayed home to work on the
compilation party the Clarks hosted). We had 40 species in a patchy
landscape of development, pastures, small ponds and wet spots, bramble and
alder fencerows and thickets, remnant second-growth timber stands,
powerline cuts, and logged-over tracts, with a couple of access points to
the Dungeness River -- all south of highway 101. I don't know what birds
might be considered "good" in the context of the whole count, but we were
pleased with our Eurasian Wigeon, Ruffed Grouse, and American Dipper.

Merry Christmas Bird Counting to all! Weekend # 2 coming up.
