Two points:

o Mike didn't say he would place the life of an animal above that of a human
o and for Mike, most of the creatures in the area aren't going to set off a
mine as they're too light to do so. A bunch of those mines are going to
be anti-tank, too - even harder to set off.

Hell, let's make it three points:

It would make a great preserve, I'm sure, for the very reason the Korean
researcher
stated. The land mines would probably reduce poaching levels, too.
